ASMPT announces Bassel Haddad as Group CEO

Bassel Haddad has taken over as Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of ASMPT. He succeeds Robin Ng, who is retiring after more than 20 years with the company, six of them as Group CEO and Executive Director.

Before joining ASMPT, Haddad served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Foundry Solutions and Technology Platforms at SkyWater Technology. His responsibilities included business strategy, go-to-market activities and the company’s foundry and advanced technology services. He had previously headed SkyWater’s Advanced Packaging business, where he was responsible for technology development, engineering, marketing and fab operations.

Earlier in his career, Haddad spent 14 years at Intel Corporation in senior positions across product, technology and business management. His work included edge computing, artificial intelligence and product architecture. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.

The leadership change follows ASMPT’s results for the first half of 2026. Revenue from continuing operations increased by 42.5% year on year to US$1.14 billion. The company also reported record half-year revenue for its Advanced Packaging business. According to ASMPT, demand was driven by several advanced packaging technologies, including thermo-compression bonding, high-precision surface mount technology (SMT) and photonics, alongside growth in mainstream applications.
