Fraunhofer IWS will host a lunch-to-lunch event where leading researchers and industry experts will share the latest trends and innovations in laser processing of polymers and other non-metal materials. The presentations will cover a broad range of laser applications:
- Laser ablation and cutting of polymers, textiles, stone and composites
- Industrial laser processing of glass, wood and packaging materials
- Laser-based joining of polymers, paper and hybrid structures
- Surface functionalization and lightweight multi-material design
- Customized control solutions and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy
The workshop focuses on composites and aerospace applications. Contributions address laser processing of fiber-reinforced polymers and thermoplastic aerospace structures, laser-based manufacturing approaches and printed heaters for space systems. Further talks examine laser-assisted joining of polymer–metal hybrids and demonstrate how 2D laser scanning increases robustness in automated tape layout processes.
The program combines expert presentations with interactive discussions, networking sessions and a guided lab tour that showcases state-of-the-art laser technologies in operation.
