From September 22 through 25, 2026, Messe Essen will place an even stronger focus on the security and defence industry: EURO DEFENCE EXPO (EUDEX) will be held at the Essen, Germany, exhibition grounds for the first time, in parallel with Security Essen. This will create a new international platform bringing together civil and military security solutions in one place. Another strong trade fair "made in Essen" is also using these synergies: SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN will present itself with a joint stand at EUDEX and show the role that joining, cutting and surfacing technologies play in modern defence applications.

At the joint stand in Hall 3, Stand 3A53, 14 exhibitors from the world’s leading trade fair for joining, cutting and surfacing will present their portfolios: Alexander Binzel Schweisstechnik, Carl Cloos Schweisstechnik, Drahtwerk Elisental W. Erdmann, DVS – German Welding Society, DWT GmbH Druckluft-Werkzeug-Technik, FICEP, Hermann Fliess, Gefertec, Kuhlmeyer Maschinenbau, Lissmac Maschinenbau, Lorch Schweißtechnik, Messer, SBI and Vautid.

Across 210 m2, visitors will experience innovative technology, practical expertise and concrete solutions for the production, maintenance and modernisation of security-relevant systems. The joint presentation offers short distances, personal advice and the opportunity to make new contacts in a dynamically growing market environment.

“SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN opens up new worlds for our customers. With the joint stand at EUDEX, we are creating direct access to a highly relevant market and, at the same time, once again showing how Messe Essen connects strong themes and generates added value,” says Christina Kleinpaß, Head of Project of SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN. “At the same time, the trade audience benefits from a compact overview of technologies, applications and partners along security- and defence-related value chains.”

New markets for joining, cutting and surfacing technology

The defence industry is an attractive business field for the welding and cutting sector in various respects. Whether vehicle construction, shipbuilding, aerospace, protected infrastructure, mobile systems or the maintenance of existing equipment: robust materials are processed, parts repaired, components modernised and highly resilient joints created in all these areas. Processes from joining, cutting and surfacing technology make a central contribution to availability, durability and operational readiness. Added to this are important topics such as occupational health and safety, automation, robotics, additive manufacturing, digital quality assurance and resource-efficient repair processes.

The need for high-performance industrial manufacturing is becoming increasingly important in Europe. Political initiatives to strengthen European defence capabilities focus not only on procurement and cooperation but also on the industrial base. This opens up new prospects for companies in welding and cutting technology.

“Reliable, modern joining technology is a key technology for many industrial applications – and in the defence industry in particular, quality, precision and process reliability are decisive. Our products deliver all of this. We are therefore pleased to take the opportunity to present ourselves at EUDEX,” says Prof. Dr. Emil Schubert, CEO of Abicor Binzel.
