Spotlight on the Next Generation of Welders: Claas Jeworowski

In our series, we introduce young welders and explore their career paths, motivations and backgrounds. In this interview, Claas Jeworowski explains which factors he considers crucial for professional success and why he has developed a passion for welding.

How did you get into welding, and what fascinated you most about this profession?

Claas Jeworowski: Back in 9th grade, I wanted to do an internship as a mechatronics technician for escalators and elevators, but the company wasn’t accepting interns. I then found an internship with my current employer. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to start my formal training there.

What motivates you most about working with metal and welding technology?

Seeing what you’ve accomplished, getting your hands dirty and creating something yourself.

Is there a project or moment you are particularly proud of?

I’m proud that I won the state championship in my discipline at the Jugend schweißt competition with relatively little preparation.

How do you see the future of welding – what opportunities or changes excite you the most?

I think welding is a technique that, in many areas, cannot be fully automated. At the same time, it’s exciting to see how much can be automated and how these advancements make life easier for welders.

Who or what has influenced you most on your path as a welder?

My ego and self-confidence.

What advice would you give to other young people considering a career in welding?

For me, welding is a passion. It’s incredibly rewarding once you master it – and the projects you can create with it are amazing. Being able to weld properly is truly a gift.

Thank you for taking the time to share your insights with us.
