In this interview series, young welders share how they entered the profession, the challenges they have overcome, and what they enjoy most about their work. Today, we introduce Marlin Wollgarten.
How did you get into welding, and what fascinated you most about this profession?
Marlin Wollgarten: I did an internship at a metalworking shop. That’s where I welded for the first time, and I found it really fascinating.
What motivates you most about working with metal and welding technology?
Working with metal is very varied. You have to be precise to achieve a good result.
Is there a project or moment you are particularly proud of?
Participating in Jugend schweißt was a highlight for me.
How do you see the future of welding – what opportunities or changes excite you the most?
I’m excited that there are opportunities for further training and that welding technology is constantly evolving.
Who or what has influenced you most on your path as a welder?
My own drive to continually improve in welding has been my strongest influence.
What advice would you give to other young people considering a career in welding?
Just give it a try.
