A great journey has begun for four young welders: the winners of the 15th DVS national competition "Jugend schweißt" (Young Welders Competition) 2025 are currently in China to take part in the international Arc Cup. The competition is being held from October 15 to 20 in Nantong City, in the Chinese province of Jiangsu. While there, Alexander Graf, Lucas Hammerschmidt, Timo Clasen and Tim von Trzebiatowski will compete against young welding talents from all over the world.
The up-and-coming welders are being accompanied by Ronald Pajuelo, chairman of the DVS national working group "Jugend schweißt," and Jürgen Raun, welding instructor at the Training Center of the Flensburg Chamber of Crafts. To prepare for the international competition, the participants completed training sessions in September at the South Thuringia Chamber of Crafts and the Flensburg Chamber of Crafts in Germany. At the Arc Cup, the young welders will each compete in their specialty: Alexander Graf in shielded metal arc welding, Lucas Hammerschmidt in oxy-fuel welding, Timo Clasen in gas metal arc welding, and Tim von Trzebiatowski in gas tungsten arc welding. They will also compete as a team to prove themselves.
The Arc Cup is held in China every year. In 2025, around 100 teams with a total of about 300 young welders took part, from countries including India, Singapore, China, Mongolia, Germany and Vietnam.
