Easy Integration of Extraction at Source

xFUME® ABIROB® W extraction torch now also compatible with hollow-shaft welding robots

Automated welding produces the same harmful fumes as manual welding. But surely these welding fumes cannot enter the respiratory tract of people working near the welding robot? They can, because standard extraction systems such as extraction hoods or welding cell extraction systems capture only some of the fumes released. To capture as many welding fume particles as possible, extraction at source is also essential for robotic welding, meaning that the welding fumes are captured directly at their point of origin.

The xFUME® ABIROB® from ABICOR BINZEL is an extraction torch based on the proven ABIROB® W system and, until now, has been designed for use with conventional industrial robots and cobots. A solution is now also available for hollow-shaft robots: the xFUME® ABIROB® W through-arm kit. The fully integrated welding fume extraction torches are based on the liquid-cooled ABIROB® W robotic welding torch series and combine TCP stability, high performance at 100 % duty cycle and excellent component accessibility with integrated welding fume extraction.

Simple and smart: the extraction kit

The xFUME® ABIROB® W through-arm kit has been developed specifically for hollow-shaft robots whose cable assembly is routed through the wrist axis. It can be attached to the iCAT W or iCATmini W robot mount in just a few simple steps. The fume extraction hose is routed along the robot to the xFUME® extraction system, allowing the fumes to be captured directly at their point of origin. The extraction hose is lightweight and flexible, follows every robot movement and does not cause interference. The extraction kit is suitable both for initial installation and for retrofitting existing systems.

The system also offers flexibility when choosing the extraction system, as the through-arm kit is compatible with all xFUME® fume extraction systems. This makes it easy to integrate extraction at source directly at the torch into an existing through-arm robot installation.
