Next Evolution in Refractory Anchoring

Silicon, a global player in engineered solutions for heat-resistant anchors, studs, fasteners and welding systems, officially introduces SpeedHex 6, the latest evolution in refractory anchoring for petrochemical turnaround applications. Developed in response to increasing execution pressure during refinery turnarounds, SpeedHex 6 is engineered to reduce weld count, accelerate installation and support more predictable execution across large-scale refractory repair areas.

Built on the proven foundation of SpeedHex 3, SpeedHex 6 extends the same engineering philosophy toward extensive repair zones where installation speed, labor availability, and schedule control have become increasingly critical. By reducing weld count by up to 50%, the system supports more efficient execution across large-scale refractory scopes. “Turnaround environments continue to demand higher execution efficiency without compromising long-term reliability,” said Konrad Eichberger, CEO of Silicon. SpeedHex 6 was developed for today’s turnaround demands. It allows customers to execute large-scale refractory scopes faster and with greater control, while relying on the established performance principles of the SpeedHex system."

SpeedHex 6 has already proven its performance during refinery turnaround operations, including its first U.S. application at a refinery in Channahon, Illinois. During the project, more than 33,000 SpeedHex 6 anchors were installed in the FCC reactor stripper section as part of a wear protection scope covering over 16,000 ft². Alongside the launch, Silicon is releasing a technical article and refinery case study exploring the engineering principles behind SpeedHex 6 and its first large-scale U.S. application.
