Oerlikon Metco Coatings Receives Nadcap Accreditation

Oerlikon Metco Coatings has received Nadcap accreditation for its site in Dukinfield near Manchester. Together with the existing AS9100 certification, the accreditation confirms that the facility meets defined quality and process requirements for the aerospace industry.

The Nadcap accreditation covers thermal spray coating processes as well as special processes. These include grinding of coatings, laboratory coating evaluations and stripping of coated materials. 

Located in Dukinfield near Manchester, the facility forms part of Oerlikon’s UK network and complements the company's sites in Milton Keynes and Cheshire.It provides thermal spray coating services for serial production and supports the development and qualification of new aerospace applications.

Thermal spray processes for aerospace applications

The Manchester facility operaters several coating booths supporting technologies including High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) and Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS). These technologies are used to meet existing OEM specifications while also enabling the evaluation of more sustainable alternatives to conventional hard chrome plating in aerospace applications.

In-house laboratory capabilities make post-coating analysis possible. According to the company,further investment in these capabilities is intended to support both ongoing production programmes and the development of new coating applications and process concepts.
