Change of Leadership at SKZ

Since July 2025, Dr Alexander Vyhnal has been responsible for research and education in the field of injection moulding and additive manufacturing at the SKZ Plastics Centre in Würzburg, Germany. The experienced chemist and expert brings with him more than 20 years of management experience in research and development in the consumer goods industry. Vyhnal succeeds Georg Schwalme, who has taken well-deserved retirement after many years of dedicated service.

“With the new management, SKZ is continuing its strategy of promoting industry-relevant advanced training and research and development in the field of plastics technologies through experienced specialists,” explains Dr. Benjamin Baudrit, Deputy Managing Director for Research and Education at SKZ. “Alexander Vyhnal brings extensive practical and scientific expertise that will be crucial for the further development of applications in injection moulding and the expansion of additive manufacturing technologies,” Baudrit continues.

The SKZ is regarded nationwide as an important partner for industry-oriented plastics research and education and sees itself as a customer-oriented pioneer for small and medium-sized companies in the plastics industry. "I am very pleased to take over the management of the injection moulding and additive manufacturing division at SKZ. With my team of over 20 scientific staff and trainers, I want to develop practical solutions for industry and specifically promote the transfer of technology from research to application. The combination of digital training courses and hands-on courses on state-of-the-art equipment will play a central role in this," explains Vyhnal, the new division manager at SKZ.
