Eural Gnutti – manufacturer of drawn aluminium alloy bars for machining and a player in the production of extruded bars and profiles – makes its debut at AMB, an international trade fair dedicated to metalworking, taking place from September 15 through 19 in Stuttgart, Germany. “Where metal comes alive” is the slogan that perfectly encapsulates the theme of this year’s event, which brings together key players from across the entire supply chain to explore technologies, innovation, services and solutions in all their forms.
Alloy 2033 lead free by Eural: the sustainable evolution of high machinability
2033 is the alloy developed by Eural to anticipate the increasingly stringent restrictions on the use of lead, whilst maintaining high levels of productivity and quality in machining operations. This alloy combines machinability in key operations such as turning, milling, drilling and tapping with process stability and outstanding surface finish characteristics, thanks in particular to its suitability for anodising. The 2033 builds on the legacy of the high-machinability alloys, reinterpreting it in the light of the needs of the contemporary manufacturing industry. Whilst the alloys developed in the second half of the twentieth century were designed for predominantly mechanical machine tools, Eural’s offering has been created to meet the requirements of modern CNC systems. Thanks to its metallurgical properties, 2033 enables particularly demanding machining operations to be carried out whilst maintaining dimensional accuracy, surface quality and effective chip management, with tangible benefits in terms of cycle times. In applications on multi-spindle machines, the alloy enables operation at high rotational speeds and under high pressure, as well as the ability to programme fixed cycles. Furthermore, it represents a viable alternative to other metallic materials, particularly brass, thanks in part to the low melting point of the bismuth present in its composition. Alongside its machining performance, the 2033’s environmental profile is consistent with the path Eural Gnutti has embarked upon towards more sustainable production models. Compliant with RoHS regulations, the alloy has been designed to facilitate a high proportion of recycled aluminium – up to 95 % – helping to reduce the use of virgin raw materials whilst maintaining quality standards.
Machining trials: Eural’s added value at the service of the customer
Over fifteen years of machining trials carried out with customers in Europe, the United States and Asian countries have enabled Eural Gnutti to build up a wealth of practical expertise gained directly in the field. These trials, carried out on traditional machine tools, multi-spindle lathes and state-of-the-art CNC machining centres, enable the behaviour of alloys to be analysed under various production conditions, translating this experience into tangible added value for each specific application. The machine fleet, cutting tools, process parameters and component geometries can, in fact, have a significant impact on the final result. For this reason, Eural Gnutti works alongside the customer to identify the most effective solution, collaborating closely with machine manufacturers and tool producers. Its approach extends the value of the supply beyond the material itself, thanks to direct engagement with the entire supply chain and an integrated vision that brings together metallurgical expertise, process knowledge and the ability to interpret specific production requirements.

The technical team at the exhibition (Stand 8D51) will be on hand to assist operators across the supply chain – from machine builders and tool manufacturers to end-users – to discuss specific cases, analyse production challenges and identify the most suitable alloy for different applications, with a particular focus on replacing traditional lead-containing alloys.
