SPRIN-D Supports H2 Battery Technology by German Start-up

The German Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation SPRIN-D commissioned water stuff & sun to assess the innovation of H2 battery technology for safe, simple and efficient storage and distribution of gases, particularly hydrogen. Further purpose of the validation assignment is to evaluate the potential of an implemented H2 ecosystem in comparison to current technologies as well as to plan and develop a pilot project that demonstrates feasibility and disruptive character of the H2 battery infrastructure. Finally, the capability of using this technology to store and distribute various technical gases in addition to hydrogen will also be evaluated.

About SPRIND

The Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation SPRIN-D was founded in 2019 and is based in Leipzig, Germany. The sole shareholder is the Federal Republic of Germany, represented by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). SPRIN-D closes a gap in the German innovation landscape: It finds new, groundbreaking technologies for the major challenges of the time and at the same time ensures that the added value of the resulting companies and industries remains in Germany and Europe. SPRIND is financed by federal budget funds. It is headed by Rafael Laguna de la Vera and Berit Dannenberg.
