Underwater Technology Conference (UTC)

Underwater Technology Conference (UTC)

The Underwater Technology Conference (UTC) is organized by the German Welding Society (DVS) every other year. The inaugural conference took place in 2008. Since then, this biennial meeting has attracted a diverse group of participants. The speakers and attendees include professional divers, dive supervisors, ROV operators, engineers, and representatives from academia, the offshore energy market, and other professions.

The 2023 UTC is scheduled to take place in conjunction with the DVS CONGRESS and the ”SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN – Joining, Cutting and Surfacing“ international trade fair in Essen, Germany, from September 11 through September 15, 2023. Over the last decade, the UTC has become one of the most important communication hubs for the diving and maritime industry. The conference always draws between 100 to 120 participants, with presenters often belonging to key organisations in their respective fields.

Conference presentations will be offered in English and in German. A wide range of presentations will cover the design and status of underwater welding and cutting research projects, electrode and other equipment development, standards, underwater NDT/NDE, underwater welding, underwater case studies, and much more.
