Autonomous Electrode and TIG Welding

With the Ignis Battery, Fronius brings more independence to the world of welding. The battery-powered variant of the Fronius Ignis provides a MMA welding solution that maintains full welding quality and process stability even in the absence of a mains power supply.  It is engineered for operation across diverse environments – ranging from remote construction sites and agricultural fields to off-road conditions and urban assembly areas.

The Ignis Battery is available in the power category up to 150 A and combines state-of-the-art welding electronics with intelligent battery technology. It is suitable for manual metal arc welding (MMA) as well as for mobile TIG welding. Welding is possible with all types of electrodes – rutile, basic or CEL.

Designed for professionals who want to work independently

Whether for pipeline construction, outdoor repairs or assembly work, the Ignis Battery is a compact welding machine that combines power, mobility and flexibility. With a weight of just 12 kg (without battery charger) and a compact, robust housing, it is a perfect companion for mobile use. Thanks to the IP23 safety class, the stainless steel filter and a ground clearance of 3.5 cm, it can withstand most adverse conditions.

Intelligent battery technology

In addition to voltage monitoring, an innovative battery management system watches over the charging process and ensures protection against overcharging and deep discharge. The integrated high-performance lithium-ion battery (LiFePO4) with 750 Wh enables welding of up to 31 electrodes (2.5 mm) or up to 30 minutes of TIG welding at 100 A with one battery charge.

Simultaneous charging and welding

In hybrid mode, welding and charging from the grid can be done simultaneously, which further extends the operating time. Another benefit is the battery’s integrated power reserve, which ensures a stable arc even with fluctuating mains voltage. The full output power of 150 A is always available that way – even with a 120 V grid. If the Ignis Battery is used in generator-powered operation, a small 2 kVA generator is sufficient to provide the required welding power and arc quality.

Sophisticated details for maximum performance

The Ignis Battery features numerous functions for easy, safe and efficient welding. HotStart and SoftStart ensure reliable ignition properties for rutile, basic or CEL electrodes. TrackingArc facilitates precise re-ignition of the arc at just 8 A. Anti-stick prevents unwanted sticking of the electrode and saves time and material.

The Ignis Battery also has sophisticated technologies for TIG welding: e.g., TIG Pulse and Comfort Stop, which ensure controlled TIG welding. Maximum compatibility is ensured thanks to the TIG-Multi Connector (TMC), which is a standardized connection for peripheral devices.
