New Lorch Application Centre in Munich

Lorch Schweißtechnik has established an application centre for regional companies at Walter-Gropius-Straße 21, at the Munich, Germany, site of Daihen Smart Solutions Europe where potential customers are able to experience the Lorch automation solutions under real conditions there – and to perform feasibility tests using their own parts on a completely set-up cobot system.

The centre is available to direct customers and trading partners of the Daihen subsidiaries, including Lorch Schweißtechnik. It is a direct point of contact for companies from the greater Munich area, South-East Germany and the adjacent Austrian market. This makes it an important addition to the existing Lorch application and competence centres in Auenwald, Bottrop, Suhl, Bremervörde and Enns in Austria.

“Many medium-sized companies are facing the question of whether welding automation makes economic sense for their components, batch sizes and investment budgets. The aim is to boost productivity, stabilise processes and ensure that quality can be consistently reproduced,” explains Alexander Abeln, Head of Sales Europe at Lorch Schweißtechnik. “Whether it pays off is not determined solely by key figures, but by real-world requirements. It is precisely this practical evaluation that we are now offering companies in the Munich area and beyond.” Apart from demonstrating solutions for welding automation, the partners are also able to use meeting rooms on site.

Cobot system and software from a single source

The application centre focuses on the Lorch cobot system: an overall package comprising the cobot, welding unit, torch, welding and tilt-turn tables, the Move linear axis, and the Lorch Cobotronic control software. This allows setting up automated processes without any programming knowledge and developing them further step by step. The setup is supplemented by further welding units from the Lorch portfolio – such as the latest high-end inverter system iQS for top performance in industrial applications.

Companies interested in solutions for welding automation are able to submit a specific order, including the parts to be welded, before visiting. The Lorch expert team will analyse the order to develop a solution that is aligned with the respective requirements. Potential customers can then have the process presented to them on the cobot right on site in the application centre and experience the results first-hand, test them further, or discuss different configurations with the experts.

“Anyone who is thinking about automation will need more than just a simple product presentation. They need someone who knows their parts, understands their processes and is close at hand. The Munich application centre is our response to this,” says Wolfgang Grimm, Head of Sales DACH, Lorch Schweißtechnik.

Supplemented by further automation solutions

The same site also offers robot systems and modular systems from automation specialist OTC, one of Lorch’s affiliates under the Daihen umbrella. Companies looking for larger automation solutions are thus able to experience the entire expertise of Daihen Smart Solutions Europe on site and make use of the group’s entire portfolio.
