PTS Group, a Non Destructive Testing (NDT) company based at Common Road Industrial Estate, has been handed the exclusive testing contract at Lostock Sustainable Energy Plant, currently under construction at Lostock Works near Northwich in Cheshire. It is the second exclusive contract at an energy from waste plant the company has been handed, having overseen the construction of the Drakelow Energy From Waste plant near Burton Upon Trent, and PTS Group will also carry out all maintenance work at the existing waste plants.
Ed Roe, Managing Director at PTS Group, said: “We are thrilled to be on site at Lostock and carry out the testing needed. “It is a fantastic site and they were eager to work with us due to our reputation of great work on previous projects elsewhere. “Using sustainable energy is an important step in the UK energy market and the contract aligns with the values of our environmentally conscious company. We are expanding into many areas, but energy sites are an important part of our business and we are very pleased they have chosen us for exclusive testing and ongoing maintenance.”
The construction of Lostock, a joint venture between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and FCC Environment, will take 18 months and PTS Group will be on site regularly to ensure all machinery and equipment are up to industry standards. Once complete, the facility will divert 600,000 t of waste from landfill and export 69.9MW of electricity to the grid.
PTS Group will also continue to work at The Drakelow Energy From Waste plant, which is run by Vital Energi and is set to deliver 18MWe of low-carbon electricity and divert 169,000 t of non-recyclable waste from landfill each year.
