ABB awarded Platinum Medal Outstanding Sustainability Performance

ABB has been awarded the Platinum medal from EcoVadis with a score of 84 out of a possible 100 points, placing the company among the top 1 % of 130,000 companies assessed worldwide. EcoVadis is a trusted provider of business sustainability ratings offering a standardized, data-driven framework that allows companies to compare supplier performance. ABB improved its score by nine points since last year.

EcoVadis looks for evidence that policies have been implemented and are delivering measurable results. The Platinum medal from EcoVadis is the result of a robust evidence-based process evaluating real-world practices across four categories: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.

“EcoVadis ratings matter because they enable companies to make informed decisions about their suppliers, reducing risk, driving improvements and accelerating impact. Being awarded a Platinum medal is testament to our transparency and progress in sustainability,” said ABB’s Group Head of Sustainability, Anke Hampel. “We have the greatest sustainability impact by helping our customers reduce their emissions, which account for 97 % of our value chain footprint. We also use EcoVadis scores during our supplier selection requiring a minimum score and continuous improvement which builds a more resilient
business for the future.”

The EcoVadis Platinum medal provides credible, independent validation of a company's sustainability leadership, enhancing its reputation and providing a competitive edge. ABB achieved this through a long-term, integrated Sustainability Agenda focused on enabling a low-carbon society, preserving resources and promoting social progress. For example, as part of its commitment to climate action, ABB has a comprehensive set of targets, which were validated in 2024 by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) against the SBTi Net-Zero Standard. These targets cover operational greenhouse gas (GHG) emis-
sions (scopes 1 and 2) and emissions from upstream and downstream value chain (scope 3).

Beyond these targets, ABB is transparent in how it is going about achieving these targets and in 2025 published its Climate Transition Plan, a blueprint for reaching net-zero. The EcoVadis Platinum medal provides ABB’s customers with the confidence that they are partnering with a responsible global technology leader, whose leading portfolio in electrification and automation is helping them to achieve their own sustainability objectives and outperform in a net-zero future. ABB also uses EcoVadis scores for its own sustainable sourcing approach during the supplier selection requiring a minimum score and continuous improvement.
