Manual laser welding: First welder examination according to DIN EN ISO 9606-1:2017-12 worldwide

We are pleased to present our colleagues Hannes Klahr and Erik Sokolowski the world's first welder examination certificate according to DIN EN ISO 9606-1:2017-12 in the manual laser welding process (ISO 4063 - 521). Both DVS laser beam specialists successfully passed their theoretical and practical examinations and received their welder examination certificates.

With this extension of the accredited DVS-PersZert system, companies are now able to use manual laser welding in fields ruled according to the building authorities. The innovative process has already been used at SLV M-V GmbH for more than 15 years for research and development as well as the mobile laser-repair of large components. Due to new, easy-to-use welding devices, like the used LightWELD from IPG und SUT, it enjoys increasing popularity and allows a wide range of applications.

However, to use the equipment safely, companies must observe numerous safety regulations, as well as provide special technical equipment and trained personnel. SLV M-V GmbH is happy to assist you as a transfer and training centre from the first test to the welder's exam. If you have any questions regarding safety, applications and examinations in the field of manual laser welding, please do not hesitate to contact Rigo Peters.

Manual laser beam welding is also in focus at DVS

Manual laser beam welding is also a hot topic with the DVS Association. Among others, the specialist group 4.7 "Beam Welding Training" within the DVS Education Committee (AfB) is currently working on the new guideline "DVS Laser Beam Welder Training Course - For Manual Joint Welding with the Laser". The goal of the DVS specialist course featured in this guideline is to train the welder for manual laser beam welding in preperation for examination according to DIN EN ISO 9606. It includes 23 teaching units in total. Basic welding knowledge is required. The guideline draft is already available, publication can be expected soon.
