German Plastics Center SKZ Honors Wegener Welding America

The SKZ German Plastics Center has honored the successful partnership with Wegener Welding in America with the "Premium Partner Training" award. Wegener Welding is the specialist for plastic welding solutions for plastic sheets and pipes. Since 2000, Wegener Welding and the SKZ have been training plastic welders in US, bringing German quality and standards to the region.

The SKZ German Plastics Center in Würzburg and Wegener Welding began their cooperation in 2000. At that time, trained specialists for welding plastic pipes were scarcely available in the region. Leah Dockter, Technical Sales Manager of Wegener Welding, explains: "In order to avoid installation errors and leaks, it was clear to us that we had to train our entire market and significantly raise the level of quality. The German quality system was the model for this and the SKZ [...] was the ideal partner."

New growing market

Detlef Hellwig, expert trainer at the SKZ subsidiary in Peine (Northern Germany), adds: "At the time, it was exciting for us to gain a foothold in a new, growing market. The support of an experienced local partner who knows the cultural particularities and already enjoys a high reputation was enormously helpful. This enabled us to contribute our expertise in the training of skilled workers to our mutual benefit."

Reason enough for the Würzburg institute to honor the partnership. This is the second time that the SKZ's "Premium Partner Training" award has been given to a company outside Germany. Matthias Ruff, Head of Sales and Procuration at the SKZ, emphasizes: "You can only be successful in the long term through good partnerships and collaborations with real synergies. This is all the more true in an international environment."

Both the expertise and the training courses offered by the SKZ are in demand and recognized in the US and beyond. The joint work contributes to more sustainable plastic water pipes.
