Join the Future is the motto of this year’s world-leading trade fair
From September 15 through 19, the international industry will gather at SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN, the world’s leading trade fair at Messe Essen, Germany, to take a collective look at the future of joining, cutting and surfacing technologies. Under the motto “Join the Future”, around 800 exhibitors from 42 countries – from young start-ups to market leaders – will present their innovations and ideas. Trade visitors can also look forward to a wide range of opportunities to gain fresh insights and expand their professional networks.
“With our guiding theme Join the Future, SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN is focusing on the issues driving the industry: What does the future of the sector look like, and how can it be actively shaped? We are looking forward to an outstanding event that will set new benchmarks,” says Oliver P. Kuhrt, CEO of Messe Essen. Dr.-Ing. Roland Boecking, General Manager of DVS – German Welding Society, adds: “Whether it’s digitalisation, sustainability or the shortage of skilled labour, the trade fair as the most important international industry gathering delivers solutions for the challenges of today and tomorrow.”
Halls 1 to 5 and the Galeria will focus on welding, Halls 6 to 8 will highlight cutting technologies. In addition, the trade fair covers a wide range of other sectors, including surface technology, gas, equipment and safety as well as quality assurance.
Premiere of the IF Digital Award
In cooperation with the non-profit IndustryFusion Foundation and DVS, SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN 2025 will present the IF Digital Award for the first time to particularly forward-thinking exhibitors. This award recognises cutting-edge products and services that are driving the digitalisation of the industry. Among the 17 participating companies, the trade fair audience will decide who takes home the trophy. Voting for the award will take place via the official event app. Each visitor has one vote and will be entered into a draw to win attractive prizes after voting. The award ceremony will take place on the final day of the trade fair, Friday 19 September at 1:00 p.m., at the IndustryFusion Foundation stand (Hall 6, Stand 6D22).
Future Hub: where tomorrow takes center stage
At the Future Hub in Hall 7 (Stand 7G13), trade visitors can expect exciting presentations by top-level experts, in-depth panel discussions, and innovative product showcases. This new stage will spotlight forward-looking topics such as digitalisation, sustainability and untapped potential in the industry. Over the five days of the trade fair, numerous national and international companies will take the stage. Visitors can look forward to scientific presentations from research institutes and universities, while also gaining exclusive insights into the industry.
A key highlight comes right at the start of SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN: On Monday 15 September, international delegations will report on their domestic markets under the motto Connecting Continents starting at 3:00 p.m., providing valuable inspiration for companies seeking to establish themselves abroad. Messe Essen will welcome delegations from Brazil, Morocco, Slovakia, and China.
The Future Hub will also champion promising newcomers: On Wednesday, September 17, at 3:00 p.m., four young companies will present their innovative ideas during the Start-up Pitch. Christina Kleinpaß, Head of Project of SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN, praises the strong interest in the new presentation platform: “Even in its debut year, the Future Hub has received an excellent response. The programme covers a wide range of topics and we are delighted that every presentation not only brings concentrated expert knowledge but also an exciting outlook on the future of the industry.”
DVS Congress and Young Welders’ Competition
As a partner of SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN, DVS will again offer a diverse lecture programme with twelve thematic blocks during the DVS Congress on September 16 and 17. Key topics include quality assurance, automation and steel and shipbuilding. The congress will be held in the Congress Center West.
Under the umbrella of the Young Welders’ Competition, this year will feature not only the national DVS competition Jugend schweißt but also the International Welding Competition, where young welding talents will demonstrate their skills. Participants aged 16 to 23 will travel from around the globe to compete. For the first time, SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN will welcome teams from Ghana and India. The Indian team even marks a double first: it is the first all-female team to compete in the history of the contest.
