SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN 2025 : Recognized as a Leading Business Hub

The 20th edition of SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN welcomed over 37,000 visitors from 100 nations to Messe Essen. The world-leading trade fair for joining, cutting and coating technologies offered an opportunity from September 15 through 19, 2025, to explore the latest technologies, trends and innovations in the industry, place orders and engage in personal conversations with more than 800 exhibitors from 44 countries. The trade fair attracted highly qualified professionals from around the world. The top ten visiting countries from abroad were the Netherlands, France, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Brazil, Spain, Japan, the United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland) and Austria. Four out of five visitors had decision-making authority.

"SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN 2025 impressively demonstrated that Essen is the central meeting point for global joining, cutting and coating technology. Nowhere else do so many decision-makers, experts, and young talents come together to experience innovations live and deepen business relationships across continents—this is exactly what makes this trade fair unique," summarized Oliver P. Kuhrt, Managing Director of Messe Essen.

The rebooking rate is also impressive: 65 % of exhibitors have already booked their space for 2029. A key feature of SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN 2025 was the high proportion of decision-makers: 80 % of visitors have purchasing and procurement authority within their companies. Exhibitors emphasized that the professional audience not only came with well-founded questions but also with concrete investment intentions: around one-third placed orders during the fair for an average of €840,000 and announced further investments in the future. Visitors included representatives from major automobile manufacturers, shipbuilding, energy, construction and the defense industry.

Dr.-Ing. Roland Boecking, Chief Executive Officer of the DVS – German Welding Society, stressed: "SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN 2025 came at the right time to give new momentum to the industry. Professionals from all over the world used SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN as a platform for innovation. With our youth competitions, we succeeded in inspiring young talent from many nations for joining technology. Content-wise, the world-leading trade fair also sent clear signals. Whether digitalization, sustainability or the shortage of skilled workers: as the most important international industry gathering, the fair provided solutions to current challenges and showcased technologies for the future."

Top themes: Digitalization, sustainability and young talent

During the five days of the event, it became clear: SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN combines business, innovation, and young talent at the highest level, positioning itself as an industry meeting point, driver of impulses and hands-on future laboratory. The exhibition halls reflected the decisive future topics of the industry: collaborative and fully automated robots, networked and sustainable production, AI-supported processes, as well as workforce and talent development were at the center of attention. Solutions for CO₂ reduction and new approaches to workplace safety, such as smart extraction systems, impressively demonstrated the industry’s innovative strength. Digitalization and automation were cross-cutting themes that shaped almost all product areas.
