A Boost for Automated Plasma Cutting Productivity

A Boost for Automated Plasma Cutting Productivity

ESAB has launched its new 110A PLUS and 70A PLUS consumables for its Cutmaster A120 automated plasma power source. “These new 110A PLUS and 70A PLUS consumables for our enhanced 1Torch significantly improve automated cutting performance compared to other consumables,” says Dirk Ott, VP Global Plasma Automation, Thermal Dynamics, an ESAB brand. “The advantages of PLUS consumables come from leveraging our experience with high-precision technology and gas flow control. They offer two times longer parts life, 10 % faster cutting speeds and 30 % more piercing capacity, such as on 20 mm steel with the 110A PLUS consumables.”

The advanced 110A and 70A PLUS consumables include electrode, gas distributor, tip, shield cap and other torch components. At 110A, users can cut thicker plates while boosting productivity with cutting speeds of 12,540 mm/m on 6 mm steel, 1,178 mm/m on 12 mm steel and 953 mm/m on 20 mm steel.

The Cutmaster A120 features a CNC interface connection that offers “Start/Stop,” “OK to MOVE” and divided arc voltage signals and comes with a serial interface to control the cutting current. Dedicated automation software improves cycle time and performance in many applications, and the system automatically detects the type of torch attached. The SL100SV 1Torch from Thermal Dynamics includes gas ports that eliminate the need for a separate plasma gas distributor and provides longer consumable parts life and better cutting performance. Other benefits of the 1Torch include a valve-in-torch design that reduces cycle time between cuts to increase productivity.

The Cutmaster A120 offers the flexibility to switch between automated and manual plasma cutting simply by connecting an SL60 or SL100 manual 1Torch. This enables fabricators to use a single plasma system for shop and field work, or to manually cut parts when hand-held cutting makes more sense. The Cutmaster A120 uses 380 - 415 V, 3 ph, 50/60 Hz primary power.

The Cutmaster A120 with new 110A and 70A PLUS consumables works well with the Swift-Cut Pro plasma cutting tables. Swift-Cut’s easy-to-use software guarantees that anyone with a basic knowledge of computers can operate the CNC (Computer Numerical Conrol) cutting system. Swift-Cut solutions enable fabricators of all sizes to take control and leverage the power of CNC technology to shift from manual to automated cutting operations, bring metal cutting in-house, expand service offerings and improve delivery times compared to manual plasma cutting or handheld power tools.
