Concentrated Marine Know-how for Norway

Baumüller founds a new company in Norway with Anlegg og Marine Service and Nogva Holding, Marine Hybrid Solutions AS (MHS), to further expedite the development of low-emission ships. Baumüller Anlagen-Systemtechnik GmbH & Co. KG, the systems company of the Baumüller Group, has set up the new company Marine Hybrid Solutions AS (MHS) together with Anlegg og Marine Service and Nogva Holding. MHS is based appr. 80 km south of Oslo in Tønsberg/Vestfold, Norway. The new company's CEO is Børge Nogva, who has many years of shipbuilding experience.

In Norway, Marine Hybrid Solutions AS focuses on marine propulsion systems with all-electric solutions and diesel-electric hybrid drives. MHS has set itself the goal of launching new and improved solutions to meet the increasingly strict shipping requirements. In future, ships should be able to access multiple energy sources such as fuel cells, batteries, solar cells, wind turbines and engines run with alternative fuels.

Another focus is digitalization. Cloud-based IoT solutions paired with intelligent automation solutions and artificial intelligence (AI) are intended to make ship operations more efficient and sustainable. “Our partners' many years of marine expertise help us to offer additional targeted solutions for the marine sector. The joint company is an enormous gain for us”, Thomas Scholz, Sales manager and member of the management of Baumüller Anlagen-Systemtechnik GmbH & Co. KG was pleased to announce.

Partner with longstanding shipping experience

Børge Nogva is involved in MHS as part of the Nogva Holding and is the CEO of the startup. Nogva can look back on a long career in management, sales, automation and electronics in the maritime industry. He has held various positions in companies such as Ulstein, Rolls-Royce, GE and Høglund and in addition to his degree in electrical engineering from the University of Technology in Göteborg he also successfully completed an MBA in business intelligence.

Anlegg og Marine Service (AMS) holds a majority share of the newly founded company and, as a supplier and service company, is specialized in diesel engines for shipping, and the oil and gas market. AMS has more than 40 years’ experience and is the sales partner of ship engine manufacturers such as Caterpillar, Cummins, Yanmar, MTU, Detroit Diesel and Volvo Penta. The company also offers solutions for low-emission and emission-free technologies and products.
