Reducing Hazardous Welding Fumes

Reducing Hazardous Welding Fumes

Welding generates a complex mixture of fume particles posing a health risk to welders. Health and safety regulations have become stricter, In addition, advanced research and assessments have shown certain metallic components and welding processes have a higher risk potential.

voestalpine Böhler Welding is primarily working on solutions to reduce welding fumes and to minimize the risks for welders associated with all welding processes. With the CO-BRO® GUARD robotic cell, the innovative diamondspark GUARD flux-cored and metal-cored wires, and the new Evolution Vision Air helmets, voestalpine is introducing its new protection solutions for the welder.

New CO-BRO® GUARD with the best Performance and Maximum Health, Safety and Environmental Protection

The new CO-BRO® GUARD is a fully enclosed collaborative robotic cell. Flexibility, easy use, accessibility, the best welding performance and maximum health, safety and environment protection are core features. CO-BRO® GUARD is new high-end technology equipment for collaborative robotic MIG-MAG welding. This system is based on a fully enclosed cell featuring a comprehensive and user-friendly software interface integrating the Böhler Welding URANOS NX equipment, the collaborative robotic arm and all the accessories.

New diamondspark GUARD 420 RC Flux-cored and Diamondspark GUARD 420 MC Metal-cored Welding Wires

diamondspark GUARD 420 RC and diamondspark GUARD 420 MC flux-cored and metal-cored wires help protecting the workplace by significantly reducing the amount of manganese in  welding fumes and assist in meeting recently revised exposure limits, while maintaining the same level of excellent weldability and mechanical properties. diamondspark GUARD 420 RC and diamondspark GUARD 420 MC are the latest technology in seamless flux-cored and metal-cored wires and, due to their innovative chemistry, they produce less than 60 per cent of manganese in the welding fumes and help to maintain the same level of welding productivity and welding performance of conventional diamondspark flux-cored and metal-cored wires with a substantial reduction of Mn present in the welding fume.

New Evolution Vision 65F and 65FM Air Helmets with PAPR

Evolution Vision 65F & Evolution Vision 65FM Air helmets are auto-darkening welding helmets with a flip-up UHD ADF, combining a welding helmet with a wide view grinding screen. Fitted with a new multi-adjustable headgear with four head straps and one neck strap, it provides comfort and ergonomic weight distribution. The welding arc produces dangerous UV and IR rays. The new automatic welding helmets are equipped with an auto-darkening filter (ADF) which filters 99.9997 per cent of all UV and IR rays, even if the ADF is not active. The Böhler Welding Powered Air-Purifying Respiratory System (PAPR) corresponds to the highest possible technical standard and protects lungs with filtered breathing air that is 99.8 per cent particle-free by meeting TH3, the highest level of certification.
